Dear Students,
Special Education Department; It aims to train teachers who contribute to the development and learning processes of individuals with special needs, who ensure their independent, productive and active participation in social life, and who are committed to professional ethics. Hasan Kalyoncu University, Faculty of Education, Department of Special Education, which set out for this purpose, was established in 2015.
Undergraduate education programs given separately by the Council of Higher Education as Mentally Handicapped, Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired and Gifted/Talented Teaching in previous years were combined and restructured under the name of Special Education Teaching in 2015. Hasan Kalyoncu University Department of Special Education; It was one of the departments that implemented the renewed Special Education Teaching Program for the first time in the 2016-2017 academic year, and students were admitted to the program for the first time at the undergraduate level. In the creation of the program, priority was given to elective courses from the specialty of Intellectual Disability, and it was aimed that our graduates gain proficiency in different fields of special education, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disability, Special Talent, Hearing and Visual Impairment.
In addition to being able to practice in special education schools as required by the teaching practice courses, our students who continue the special education teaching program are provided with the opportunity to observe and practice the educational evaluation and application processes of children and individuals with special needs in our Special Education Application and Research Center, which was established in 2016.
In order for our graduates and teachers working in the field of special education to continue their master education, the graduate education of the Department of Special Education started as of 2017-2018 and doctoral education in the 2018-2019 academic year. We continue to serve with our experienced education staff ready to share their knowledge, skills and experiences in the field of special education with you.
